The project, framing two exhibitions and a virtual conference, addresses international ideas, different perspectives and the diverse angles around artists working alongside narrative constructions.

Narration is an inherent human need for communication, inter-relationships and even survival, for what it is never told or no longer spoken, it is forgotten, hance, doesn’t exist no more.

Long before oral complexity, human beings have always pursued the idea of telling and have been driven to express themselves. To tell stories.

Everything we do, in some way or another, conforms our own individual narrative code that defines, not only how we express ourselves, but also how we understand the world around us, serving simultaneously as a portrait of who we are. From the way we dress, walk, speak, the stories we share, our homes or the people we love and despise; everything is part of the bigger picture of our own unique narrative point of view.

Plastic narration is not a defined restricted language, it is communication. Regardless of the tools we use, sometimes only those available to us, this individual unicity still remains. That is why, in Voices on Visual Narrative, that gather artists from very different upbringings, cultural backgrounds and points of view, and even through the massive visual differences between them, there is always something that stands out holding them all together: narrative impulses.

And in that spirit, the main idea behind it is nothing but to collect, review and share the different and unique explorative methods of artists working with narrative patterns. Ultimately, to provide viewers and audiences the broad possibilities of approaching Art in a methodology equipped with a narrative vocabulary.
