Ngan Wa Ao (Kate Samozwaniec) a native of Macao, Kate has lived in Taiwan, the US, and various European countries. She finished her B.A. and M.A. in Photography at the University of the Arts Poznan. Her artworks are often inspired by her childhood memories, as well as gender roles, feminism, racial identity and the friction between mankind and nature.

Photography is the medium that she uses most. She is fascinated by the intention behind the photographs taken in bygone eras, the role these photographs might play in the future and the stories they tell in the present.

Photography for her is the physical embodiment of an untold story rather than the actual technical process of taking a photo. She tries to convert and rework memories, photos and image files by mixing different media and materials, all the while looking to discover new qualities or meanings.

Her works have been presented in various countries and states including Poland, Greece, France, Slovakia, Taiwan and Macau.

Ngan Wa Ao (Kate Samozwaniec) Pochodzi z Makau, mieszkała na Tajwanie, w USA i różnych krajach Europy. Ukończyła studia licencjackie i magisterskie z Fotografii na Uniwersytecie Artystycznym w Poznaniu. Jej prace są często inspirowane wspomnieniami z dzieciństwa, a także rolami gender, feminizmem, tożsamością rasową i konfliktami człowieka z naturą.

Fotografia jest medium, które wykorzystuje najczęściej. Fascynuje ją intencja stojąca za fotografiami wykonanymi w minionych epokach, rola, jaką mogą one odegrać w przyszłości i historie, które opowiadają w teraźniejszości.

Fotografia jest dla niej bardziej fizycznym ucieleśnieniem nieopowiedzianej historii niż technicznym procesem robienia zdjęć. Stara się przekształcać i przetwarzać wspomnienia, zdjęcia i pliki graficzne poprzez łączenie różnych mediów i materiałów, szukając przy tym nowych jakości i znaczeń.

Jej prace były prezentowane w różnych krajach i państwach, w tym w Polsce, Grecji, Francji, Słowacji, na Tajwanie i w Makau.
