“Landscapes of the Future” – meeting with the curator Tjaša Pogačar

Intermedia UAP together with this year’s Guest Studio, led by the Inside Job duo (Ula Lucinska, Michal Knychaus), invite to an open meeting with curator and art theorist Tjaša Pogačar from Ljubljana, currently living and working in Prague. The meeting will take place on 18.05 from 18:00–20:00 in the Intermedia’s Cinema (room 204, building C). The lecture and discussion will be held in English. „Future” has re-entered the discourse of contemporary art in recent years while future oriented thinking gained new importance especially in the context of ecological change. Current art’s imaginations of future landscapes seem to be shaped by sci-fi films, speculative fiction, posthumanist theories, and historical non-western futurisms, among others. But how (if at all) are they marked by the practical realities of working in the field (and vice versa)? More specifically, what does it mean to speculate about possible „worlds to come” in artistic and curatorial practice when you are based in the Central-Eastern European region? By looking at recent exhibition projects, this presentation offers insight into the practical aspects and context of exhibition making and questions if and how these relate with the topics that are relevant to the shows and the artists featured.
