The Exhibition of the Winners of the 7th Edition of the Student Biennial of Small Sculpture Form named after prof. Józef Kopczyński will present the works of people awarded and distinguished in the competition.

Student Biennial of Small Sculpture Form organized by the Faculty of Sculpture of the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznan is a competition dedicated to the memory of Professor Józef Kopczyński, an outstanding artist and respected lecturer of our university.

The aim of the Biennale is to create and highlight interesting artistic attitudes of university students and to promote small-scale sculpting, the art of medallion, innovative sculptural thought and concept, and to confront the prevailing sculpting trends at universities with an artistic profile.

The essence of the competition is also to support the development of the artistic career of young people, in the 7th edition of SBSSF the total prize pool is over PLN 20,000 and not only: one can win bronze castings of selected projects, an individual exhibition, publication of an interview with a distinguished person, and Index of the Faculty of Sculpture for students. The competition enjoys unflagging interest – from over 300 submitted works, 62 works were selected and presented at the competition exhibition and in the publication of the catalogue.

The official opening of the competition exhibition along with the award ceremony took place on December 6, 2023 in the Słodownia+1 space, Stary Browar Shopping Center in Poznan.

The competition exhibition was accompanied by an exhibition entitled “Great – small sculpture” by prof. Krzysztof S. Nitsch, a respected artist and lecturer of the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts. The curator of the accompanying exhibition was Dr. Hab. Jarosław Bogucki, prof. UAP.
