The exhibition “PARALLEL LIVES”, organized in the Nowa Scena UAP Gallery of the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznan, is part of an international project under the same title, the idea of which was conceived by Marino Zancanella – an Italian architect, artist, as well as curator of foreign art and architecture exhibitions and author of the artistic and research initiative entitled “Laboratorium-Venezia”. The project “PARALLEL LIVES”, in the assumptions of its originator, focuses on the search for and creative exploration of analogous phenomena and cultural artifacts appearing and functioning in various places, cities or artistic centers, among others, in relation to the heritage of European architecture and art. The assumptions of the above-mentioned project were presented to the Polish audience at a meeting with Marino Zancanella and Dr. Małgorzata Czerniawska, who collaborates with him – a meeting organized at the University of the Arts Poznan in December 2024. You can learn more about them by listening to the recording of the event mentioned above – the recording is available at the link: https://youtu.be/AMJRpVriEZ4?si=NLmhrvG8gZJ4yoE0 ; information about the lecture itself can be found on the UAP website, at the link: https://uap.edu.pl/2024/12/marino-zancanella-zycia-rownolegle-szkic-koncepcji/ . The cooperation established in 2024 between the University of the Arts Poznan and Mr. Marino Zancanella assumes the simultaneous organization of cultural events in Venice and Poznan, as well as the exchange of exhibitions of the creative circles from the above-mentioned cities. In 2025, this cooperation is carried out by the newly established Inter-Faculty Institute of Artistic Research UAP at the Poznan University, headed by Prof. Andrzej Banachowicz. The exhibition “PARALLEL LIVES” – organized in the spring of 2025 in the Nowa Scena UAP Gallery, also with the active participation of the Nowa UAP Foundation and with the support of the City of Poznan – is also one of the artistic initiatives of the above-mentioned Institute. The Polish curatorial team (prof. Andrzej Banachowicz, prof. Rafał Boettner-Łubowski and ass. Aleksander Radziszewski) in agreement with the curator of the entire project – Mr. Marino Zanacanella and His Magnificence the Rector – prof. Maciej Kurak – invited a group of twenty artists representing different generations and creative attitudes to participate in the Poznan edition of the project “PARALLEL LIVES”. The artists were asked to familiarize themselves with the general assumptions of the project “PARALLEL LIVES” and to subjectively and openly refer to it in the form of a broadly understood original visual artifact created in any medium and creative approach. This form of curatorial request, addressed to selected artists, was aimed at respecting their individual areas of freedom and creative exploration, as well as opening up to what is “unknown and unexpected”, both in life and in art.
