…you realize that while all famous books are similarly famous, every unknown book is unknown in its own way, for every book that comes into being there is one that is stillborn, and our potential for existence is guaranteed by the potential for nonexistence.
Invisible libraries
The exhibition “Library” presents the works of 33 students associated with the Unique Publishing Object studio. It is a summary of a year of intensive work, experiences, reflections, dialogue and creative explorations, for which the book – as a form, idea and being – became a starting point, reference and also a field of experimentation. The works presented concern very diverse topics, they are personal, serious or tinged with a sense of humor. The shape they take draws from traditional book forms such as a codex, scroll, accordion, brochure, map, but always in a creative, individual way and exploring the potential possibilities hidden in them. “Library” is not an exhibition “on the subject”, but a collection of various perspectives, ways of thinking, pondering over the form, meaning and possibility of creating one’s own authorial statement in the form of a unique publishing object.
The exhibition also includes the project “Neighborhood. Handle with care” – a collective work using the risography technique, touching on the subject of relationships, being together and mindfulness.
I thank all students for their commitment, courage, non-obvious choices, trust and sensitivity that they have shown during the first year of the new workshop. Thank you for starting the collection of the “Library”, a collection of potential possibilities that is not finished or closed.
