Alchemy. The Phenomenon of Clothing in the Act of Creation
Atrium UAP (Building B)

“Alchemy. The Phenomenon of Clothing in the Act of Creation” is a show presenting fashion, clothing and theatrical costume. Prepared for the third time by the Department of Clothing at the University of the Arts, the show magnetizes viewers with shapes, scenography, stage gesture, dance, light and music. Thanks to this combination, you will understand greater things, because we open the door to the unknown world, where the adventure of searching and inventing new ways of life reigns!

This is the only fashion show that fills the void of the night with living characters. At night, we will bring the sunrise and the mythological birth of a personality close to the ideal.

Clothing is not only everyday life, it allows each of us to become a hero/heroine who will tame the dragon. Experience the alchemical journey of emerging from chaos as a savior and experience the act of creation, when the beginning and the end shake hands.

Curators: Roland Grabkowski, Marek Ruszkiewicz

“Ornament of Modernity” is an exhibition of works by teachers from the Faculty of Sculpture and Art Mediation, Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. Ornament in the context of synchronizing many threads can take the form of considerations on the dynamics of events and multi-layered visual stories. However, when even the largest number of references begins to create a coherent character, it becomes natural to reflect on the leading motif, defining the direction of artistic aspirations. Between “embellishment” and “speckledness” there is no “thin line”, or rather an abyss that cannot be crossed.

14:00 – 21:00
Pygmalion Brigade
Gallery PIĘTRO_2.0, 29 Marcinkowskiego Ave., Building A UAP, 2nd floor
Curators: Rafał Kotwis / Konrad Smela

Presentation of the documentation of selected sculptural projects of the Pygmalion Brigade under the leadership of its founder – prof. Wiesław Koronowski.

Pygmalion Brigades is a group of sculpture enthusiasts. BxP activities consist of sculpting monumental – monumental realizations live. They are most often created in urban space and have a happening character. The author and initiator of the activities is Wiesław Koronowski, the group’s leader. Participation in the activities and at the same time membership in BxP is voluntary. Each participant of the activities becomes a member of Pygmalion Brigades by nomination. By creating Pygmalion Brigade in 2007 as an open sculpture group, Wiesław Koronowski launched a process that contains an intriguing contradiction. A group of sculptors, creating a monumental sculpture in public space, constructs it in such a way that the moment crowning its completion begins the process of not fully controlled destruction.

What is existence when it overwhelms?

How to define yourself in a reality that imposes an unbearable burden?
“D E F” is a story about an individual lost in the structures of their own existence – about the tension between body and consciousness, matter and sound, movement and stillness. The shared space created by Igor Mikoda (sculpture – object and animation) and Rafał Czekała (music) is a multidimensional experience in which plastic form meets sonic expression. Static and dynamic intertwine, reflecting the inner drama of the individual, their inner trembling and attempt to find meaning. The title “D E F” – raw, broken, as if suspended in a vacuum – emphasizes the fragmentation and tension of existence. Entering this world, the viewer becomes a witness and participant in an experience that oscillates between strangeness and intimacy, scream and silence, rebellion and acceptance.

Can harmony be found in chaos?

Is there strength in burden?

14:00 – 21:00
Life after Comfort-Centeredness. Happiness Research Laboratory
Curators’LAB Gallery, 12 Nowowiejskiego Str.
Curator: Bogna Świątkowska
Object designers: Maciej Siuda, Ada Gruszka

The conceptual traveling exhibition presents 8 specially designed objects in the pink space of the gallery. The starting point for this project is the need to move away from comfort based on the exploitation of fossil fuels and high-emission technologies. According to the curator’s idea, the new situation means that we must prepare for changes in our reality – for life “after the departure of comfort”. The objects are therefore only a pretext to start a discussion, and the main task of the project is to network the environments of science, art, design, technology, ecology and entrepreneurship in order to create a leaven for a network of so-called knowledge co-producers who should indicate the most important challenges of the near future.

14:00 – 21:00

Opening: 17.05.2025, 18:00

The world is a family of relationships – a whole that we experience as a special phenomenon – the tenderness of objects towards other objects. We often demand an answer to the question about the nature of objects themselves; what does the possible fullness of their being consist of without man? In reality, they are the only available thing that only builds our idea of the world.

Objects live next to us. On the margins, on the edges of our daily functioning. They fill these spaces and do not even a little bit seek our attention. We are the ones who provoke these situations where specific objects, at the expense of others, have called out to us and built a relationship with us. We impose our will on them so that they become part of our established and named reality.

What we are dealing with is, in fact, an active projection of reality – regardless of whether we call it the shadow of Plato’s cave, Buddhist maya (Skt. illusion, delusion) or a biological-evolutionary deepfake produced by our senses, which balances on the border of what we recognize and what we do not know.

Let’s assume a thought experiment: if something catches our attention (or we catch something’s attention) and we assign it a certain meaning and a specific value because of it, is this thing more true than others?

Objects look at us from hiding. They do not judge the spirit of our times, the ubiquitous zeitgeist, the weight of which we gradually build day after day by casually throwing our own pebble into its (our) garden. We do not feel their gaze on our backs, but they patiently and calmly observe how we try to navigate our everyday lives.

We are not able to see the whole picture. We only have fragments – sensitive particles of meaning – and although we can lump them together into a set called “the whole”, the whole is more than the individual elements that make up the set.
