Love is an ambiguous, omnipresent and elusive word. The object of desire, the source of rapture and despair, the starting point for personal and social revolutions. The exhibition For Love is an attempt to capture this emotion not as an abstract concept, but as a specific experience – corporeal, political, intimate.

Four artists: Paweł Flieger, José Manuel Jiménez Muñoz, Paulina Wyrt and Ana del Amor – take up the subject of love from different perspectives and in different media. Their works not only tell about love, but also ask questions about why we are willing to give it up – or what we are willing to pay to keep it. Sometimes love appears as a tender gesture, sometimes as a fight, sometimes as a memory that requires a body to exist again.

The title of the exhibition – For Love – has a double meaning. It may suggest a declaration of how to “fight for love”, but it can also be a sentence, a price to pay. The works presented in the Nowa Scena UAP Gallery, located in the Malta Festival Accreditation Centre, resonate with this tension: between affirmation and sacrifice, between individual and social experience.

These works are connected by the artistic medium – illustration, but they differ in their message, mood and point of view. Paweł Flieger explores the boundaries of intimacy, evoking images of relationships rooted in understatements. José Manuel Jiménez Muñoz operates on the emotional layer through the symbolism of everyday life and gestures of closeness. Paulina Wyrt creates spaces of emotional dialogue with the body as an archive of feelings, and Ana del Amor tells about love as a form of resistance to oblivion, loss and silence.

The exhibition For Love does not provide clear answers. Instead, it proposes a close look at how love – as an idea, feeling and practice – shapes our relationships, decisions, creativity and everyday life. When the language of hate and indifference seems to dominate the public space, reminder of love as a force for change becomes an act of courage.
