Part 1:

Prototyping is a complex activity that involves searching for a prototype, preliminary implementation, testing the initial concept, checking for important features, experimenting with methods, and modeling the results. Prototyping allows you to follow reasoning, draw conclusions, and improve. Prototyping requires looking at your own creative process, emotions, thoughts, needs, actions, and their consequences. It also allows you to experience contact and reception by SOMEONE to whom it is addressed.

The documentations present the projects of students from the Intermedia Educational Activities Studio of the Władysław Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź in the years 2022-25. These are often the first activities in their experience combining art and education. The documentations are their own voice, a report from this process. Have they found a prototype for their own artistic and educational activity?

Part 2:

An educational prop is any object or objects that allow for sensory experience and support the learning process. An educational prop dedicated to contemporary art additionally disseminates knowledge about a selected phenomenon, attitude or artistic strategy. It is a playful, action-oriented „translator” of art. It can take any form (publication, gadget, educational game, art tool, art set, etc.) – for use by one or more people. In principle, it should be reusable and resistant to damage.

The prototyping process consisted of a project, a baseline prototype, a pilot of the initial concept, a technical prototype, user feedback and evaluation. Implemented as part of the subject „Strategies for cooperation with contemporary art” in the academic year 2024/25. Content-related supervision by dr hab. Barbara Kaczorowska.

Part 3:

Workshop understood as designing a creative and educational situation enabling those participating and conducting to develop. The forms and methods of work during the workshop are adapted to achieve the set goals, including: activating imagination, creative thinking, developing creative attitudes and sensitivity to visual values. The topics of the workshops concern the problems of contemporary art, as well as art practiced by students. The workshops are designed for different groups of recipients, with an individual approach to participants and respect and support for their creative attitudes. The projects were created as part of the subjects „Methods of conducting artistic workshops” and “Organization of creative projects” in the years 2022 – 2025.

***

The project is carried out under the honorary patronage of the Polish Committee of the International InSEA Association.

Organizers: Interdisciplinary Department of Visual Arts and Cultural Education of the Faculty of Art Education and Curatorial Studies of the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznan and the Intermedia Educational Activities Studio of the Institute of Art Education of the Władysław Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts Łódź. In its first edition, the project assumes cooperation between artists, universities, art and culture institutions, educational institutions and those related to broadly understood cultural education on a national scale. The next edition foresees an international character of the initiative. It is a proposal for dialogue between an institution and an artist, a student. It is an exchange of knowledge, experiences and competences. It is a critical conversation, reflection. The project will be an expression of the current image of activities in the field of creating art, educating art, educating through art and educating with art. It will be an opportunity for people already professionally shaped to meet with students. Its aim is to deepen awareness of the need to interact with art and to encourage people to take action in the field of art and culture in the broad sense. The project will include exhibitions, symposia, meetings, conferences, artistic initiatives, creative activities and workshops. Each of the included activities will have an individual character, adequate to the substantive content discussed, oscillating between art and cultural education. In principle, each of the initiatives will be multi-threaded and will have a multi-level structure addressed to diverse recipient groups.
