We talk about art constantly. It’s often difficult to distinguish a work from its commentary. Images begin to pretend to be images, and art begins to pretend to be art. Every attempt to describe them becomes another layer of decoration, and every manifesto a new costume. Objects create self-promotional rituals where digital prostheses, extending our tongues, eyes, and hands, replace experience. The exhibition “yap yap and narra” focuses on the “theatricality” of the art scene – the tireless yapping of artists, curators, viewers, and critics. Where suggesting solutions becomes a helpless sport, Gabriel Kryszpiniuk focuses on self-irony, in defiance of whimsical self-reflection. There’s a chance that laughter can become a form of regaining sincerity. Does art still offer narrative, or is it merely a shorthand transcript of our verbosity?
