“Journey to Invisibility” is the theme of this year’s Biennial. Suspended between refuge and exclusion, between what is hidden and what is only just emerging into consciousness. Artists from Poland and abroad examine what eludes the gaze: invisible work, the marginalized presence of women, the experience of migration, the consequences of the climate crisis, and the death of non-human beings. We examine various manifestations of invisibility—with an emphasis on the process of achieving this state.
The main exhibition presents 30 works selected from 623 submissions from around the world. This is a fragment of a larger map of possibilities, but enough to embark on your own journey through areas that are seemingly transparent, yet in fact crucial to understanding contemporary times. There are many journeys to invisibility, but this one looks like this. Fiber art becomes a common language. The program also includes four accompanying exhibitions: Small Textile Form (Curators’ Lab), a presentation by Kamila Kobierzyńska (Jak Gallery), the duo of Marcin Lorenc and Monika Shaded (Nowa Scena), and an exhibition curated by Natalia Czarcińska (Galeria Szewska 16). Accompanying tours and workshops will provide opportunities to deepen the experience.
The BTA format remains open and inclusive; alongside established artists, we will also showcase works by emerging artists. We invite you to join us on this journey – from October 11th to 25th, 2025, at Słodownia 1+ in Poznań.
Before it disappears…
