MANIFESTO OF COLLABORAGE: A PROTOCOL OF TREASON
AGAINST REALITY
“If reality is coherent, it means it has been assembled incorrectly.”
The whiteness of these walls is offensive. It is a sterile lie, an attempt to tame what is inherently messy, chaotic, and fractured. It is an act of forced cooperation between decay and paper and canvas, between trash and the gallery’s sacrum, between the eye and that which presses most painfully beneath the eyelid.
Nowacki stands before you with his hands in his pockets. This is not a gesture of disregard, but a manifesto of ontological distance. It is the stance of a flâneur who, instead of admiring shop windows, looks into the dumpsters behind the façade of reality.
His painting and collages recycle the idea of MERZ – Schwitters’ attempt to piece together a world that had fallen apart before we managed to understand it. In a world split in two, the only honest method is to glue it back together from fragments that do not fit.
The title “Collaborage” is a linguistic trap. Nowacki collaborates with chaos in order to mock order.
Rodion Nowacki invites you to take part in this process. You may look, you may be outraged, you may shrug your shoulders. But remember: in this space, YOU are the most mismatched element of the collage.
