The group exhibition In Paint We Trust at the Nowa Scena UAP Gallery presents works by a broad representation of the teaching staff of the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Although this formally and thematically diverse exhibition has a distinctly survey-like rather than problem-oriented character, the phrase contained in the title opens space for interpretative reflection.

A paraphrase of the motto found on American currency, the title can be read on the one hand as a declaration of belonging to a collectively built artistic space, and on the other as an affirmation of strength and value found in the diversity of unique and highly individualized creative attitudes. Abstraction, figuration, intuition, narrativity, generational perspectives, realism, metaphor, experiment, negation, tradition, and manifesto – all of these descriptive approaches coexist within the contemporary painterly crucible. In its pluralism lies the potential for dialogue and for the exploration of new artistic ideas and values.
