Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznan is pleased to announce the launch of the Pre-Doctoral Programme in Art and Design – a new three-year programme designed for artists and designers who wish to develop their creative practice through research while preparing to pursue a doctoral degree via the external route.

The programme combines artistic practice with research, critical reflection, and methodological development, creating an environment for participants to advance their individual projects while engaging with contemporary artistic and design discourse. Through studio-based research, seminars, lectures, mentoring, and presentations, participants will develop the competencies required for independent artistic research and future doctoral studies.

Organised in the form of intensive sessions held approximately every two weeks, the programme is designed to accommodate participants who wish to continue their professional and creative practice alongside their studies. Participants also benefit from access to the University’s studios, workshops, exhibition spaces, libraries, and technical facilities.

The Pre-Doctoral Programme in Art and Design is delivered in English, lasts three years (six semesters), and welcomes its first cohort in the 2026/2027 academic year.
