BIOSPHERE FORUM: MICRO–MACRO FEAST
September 28 – December 11, 2026 | Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznań From September 28 to December 11, UAP spaces — AULA, ATRIUM, ART LOFT, DUŻA SCENA (Main Stage), and TESERÓWKA — will host artwork presentations, screenings, performances, discussions, and collaborative actions.
What can happen when artists, scientists, activists, naturalists, educators, and people fighting every day for environmental protection and the rights of other beings sit together at one table? That is precisely what the BIOSPHERE FORUM seeks to explore — a series of exhibitions, screenings, meetings, talks, walks, and educational activities organized in autumn 2026 at the University of the Arts Poznań. Following Lynn Margulis and James Lovelock, we understand the biosphere as an active, self-regulating “superorganism,” where all beings are closely interconnected, interacting components of a planetary system.
The centerpiece of the program will be the “Micro–Macro Feast,” curated by Sebastian Cichocki, Karolina Kubik, and Krzysztof Łukomski. The invited artists represent very different ways of viewing the world. The lineup features, among others:
Tita Salina and Irwan Ahmett — an artistic and eco-activist duo from Jakarta
CENTRALA — architectural collective (Małgorzata Kuciewicz and Simone De Iacobis)
AM Kanngieser — sound artist and geographer
Piotr C. Kowalski — a painter collaborating with non-human artists
Alicja Czyczel — choreographer and performer
Navine G. Dossos — from the Greek collective VESSEL
Their practices combine art with the observation of the environment, space, matter, sound, the body, and social relations.
However, the most important part of the FORUM will happen between people. We also invite individuals from outside the artistic community to join us at the shared table: nature conservation experts, activists, scientists, educators, and people working on the climate crisis, agriculture, species protection, and local environmental initiatives.
We want to see whether different communities can not only discuss the same problems but also start taking action together. Therefore, the FORUM will serve as a testing ground for new methods of communication and collaboration — including through art, design, and visual communication. We will search for tools that help build mutual trust, foster a better understanding of diverse perspectives, and support one another in taking action.
The BIOSPHERE FORUM is an invitation to sit together at the table. You don’t need to be an artist or an art expert. All you need is an interest in the world we live in — and a desire to talk with others.
As part of the FORUM, the OPEN BIOSPHERE SCHOOL will also take place — a series of walks, workshops, and spatial activities. We are also building an open online archive documenting the program’s development.
The evolving BIOSPHERE FORUM program will be available starting September 28 at www.uap.edu.pl. It is created together with all participating individuals and initiatives.
We cordially invite you to the launch of the FORUM at ART LOFT at UAP on Monday, September 28, at 5:00 PM (28 Marcinkowskiego Ave., Building H, 4th floor).
See you there!
