The Department of Curatorial Studies and Art Theories operates within the structures of the Faculty of Art Education and Curatorial Studies.

The Chair’s staff, reflecting on contemporary art, including the problem of curatorship, cover a wide range of research fields: from contemporary art, its social conditions, through photography, copyright law to interests in internet art and popular culture. This broad research field allows us to be the supervisors of many BA and MA theses of students in most departments of UAP.

The emergence of the Department is linked to the launch by the Faculty of Art Education of the first theoretical course at the University – Curatorial and Art Theories. Our staff, alongside the many activities carried out for the benefit of students across the University, focus on developing this particular course. Within the Department, alongside our teaching work, we want to conduct scholarly reflection on diverse curatorial strategies.  Most of us are not only theorists, but also active critics and curators.
