CHARACTERISTICS OF THE FACULTY
The Faculty of Painting and Drawing is, on the one hand, a continuation of the tradition that began with the establishment of the Decorative School in 1919 and the Department of Decorative Painting created then, and on the other hand, a modern curriculum giving full qualifications for independent artistic work.
The Faculty offers uniform master’s studies and 2-year supplementary master’s studies, which provide the opportunity to continue at the UAP Doctoral School. The teaching process meets the conditions regulated by the European Higher Education Area.
The Faculty has numerous professional scientific staff who create a unique study atmosphere. The Faculty of Painting and Drawing consists of two Departments of Painting, two Departments of Drawing and the Department of Interdisciplinary Activities. The work is organized in art studios with full program autonomy, which educate students of all UAP faculties, which creates a unique specificity of studying at the Poznan University. Starting from the first year, students have the freedom to choose their studio, which gives them great opportunities to shape their own educational path. The faculty has a wide teaching offer based on the following specialties: painting, drawing, painting in architecture and urban planning, artistic textiles, documentation and conservation of works of art.
The individual development of artistic personality is extended by a rich set of theoretical subjects. The Faculty of Painting and Drawing organizes nationwide artistic events, such as the “New Image/New Look” painting competition. Faculty galleries are a field of experience and experimentation for students, teachers and curators. Gallery Szewska 16 run for a term by a group of young research and teaching staff, which determines its specificity as a place for presenting various attitudes and phenomena related to painting as a contemporary language of artistic articulation.
The continuous development of the staff determines new initiatives in the field of research projects, cooperation with external stakeholders, international cooperation and inter-university knowledge transfer, giving the educational process a dynamic character. The constantly modified painting study program guarantees graduates the opportunity to participate in current artistic life and find a place on the labor market.
