Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznan is an open and international academic community that welcomes students from around the world every year. Through a wide network of partnerships with institutions in EU and non-EU countries, UAP supports dynamic exchange opportunities for both incoming and outgoing students.

The university also offers full-time degree programmes taught in English under the umbrella title “Study in English.” These include both first-cycle (Bachelor’s) and second-cycle (Master’s) programmes in Fine Arts and Creative Design. They attract international students who wish to develop their artistic practice, expand their perspectives, and study in a vibrant creative environment in Poznan.

Documentation Verification Stage

ROZWIN

For BA candidates – first-cycle studies

  • Application Form Application Form;
  • High School Completion Certificate – A document required for admission to higher education in the country where it was issued. It must be translated into English or Polish and legalized;
  • English Language Certificate – level required is B2 according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages);
  • Proof of Health Insurance – must cover the entire academic year in Poland. Alternatively, applicants may submit a written statement confirming that the will: a) arrive in Poland with valid health insurance, OR b) join the Polish National Health Fund (voluntary health insurance upon arrival);
  • Applicants under the age of 18 are required to submit a notarized consent from their legal guardians Third Party Authorization to Submit Documents.

ROZWIN

For MA candidates – second-cycle studies

  • Application Form Application Form;
  • Copy of BA diploma – A document required for admission to higher education in the country where it was issued. It must be translated into English or Polish and legalized;
  • Transcript of Records – document confirming the curriculum of completed studies. It must be translated into English or Polish and legalized;
  • Letter of Recommendation (in English) e.g. by a lecturer representing the university applicant graduated from (optional);
  • English Language Certificate – B2 level according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages);
  • Proof of Health Insurance – must cover the entire academic year in Poland. Alternatively , applicants may submit a written statement confirming that the will: a) arrive in Poland with valid health insurance, OR b) join the Polish National Health Fund (voluntary health insurance upon arrival);

Please check if your high school certificate or diploma requires NAWA recognition.


Portfolio and Cover letter / Motivation letter 

PORTFOLIO

Portfolio should show the candidate’s artistic or design interests related primarily to the chosen field of study and be prepared according to the requirements below:

  • reproductions of the applicant’s independent work, primarily related to the chosen field of study. The portfolio should contain 15–30 works submitted in PDF format (maximum file size: 30 MB). Video and animation files should be submitted in .mov or .mp4 format, with a maximum duration of 1 minute. A maximum of 5 files is allowed, with a total size not exceeding 1 GB.
  • for applicants to second-cycle (Master’s) studies: documentation of the bachelor’s thesis in the field of fine arts or design.

MOTIVATION LETTER

The motivation letter should provide a brief introduction to the applicant and include:

  • first name, last name, and date of birth,
  • a short overview of educational background,
  • artistic interests, goals, and expectations,
  • a statement explaining the choice of the field of study.

The motivation letter must not exceed 2,500 characters (including spaces).

ONLINE INTERVIEW

An online interview with candidates, conducted remotely.

  • The purpose of the interview is to verify the candidate’s language skills, briefly discuss their interests, and assess their creative potential.
  • Candidates will be informed of the interview date at least one week in advance.

Applicants who have previously completed first-cycle studies at the University of the Arts Poznań (UAP) may be exempted from the interview. In such cases, they will receive the maximum score for this stage.

Admission Scoring and Results

As a result of the qualification process, a candidate may receive a total of 0 to 25 points. The final score is the sum of points obtained in two stages of the qualification process, with a maximum of:

a. Stage Two:

  • Portfolio: 0–15 points
  • Motivation letter: 0–5 points

b. Stage Three:

  • Interview: 0–5 points

To obtain a positive result in the qualification process, a candidate must achieve at least 15 points in totalacross all parts of the assessment.

Failure to obtain points in any part of the qualification process results in a negative outcome of the entire examination (0 points).

A candidate may apply for more than one field of study. In such a case, the candidate is required to pay a separate application fee for each programme and indicate their first and subsequent choices of study programmes.

Accepted students will be required to pay the tuition fee for the first year or for the first semester of their studies to receive the Admission Letter. International students admitted for the first year will be obliged to deliver the original versions of documents submitted in the application process to the International Office for verification.

Cover letters and portfolios of applicants to be reviewed by the Admission Committee. Each applicant will be informed about the status of their application via email. When evaluating the application letter and portfolio, the Admission Committee may decide to interview online with the candidate. Accepted students will be required to pay the tuition fee for the first year or for the first semester of their studies to receive the Admission Letter. International students admitted for the first year will be obliged to deliver the original versions of documents submitted in the application process to the International Office for verification.

Tuition Fees

First-cycle studies

  • Fine Arts / Creative Design: EUR 2,900 per semester (EUR 5,800 per academic year)
    Tuition fees are payable in two instalments:
    • first instalment by October 15th
    • second instalment by February 1st
  • Landscape Design: EUR 3,400 per semester (EUR 6,800 per academic year)
    Tuition fees are payable in two instalments:

    • second instalment by February 1st

Second-cycle studies

The deadlines for making the payments:

  • October 15th, 2026 (for the winter semester)
  • January 1st, 2027 (for the summer semester)

Statutory interest is charged on fees paid after the deadline. In the event of arrears with fees for a period longer than three months, the student will be removed from the list of students.
